dear friends, Merry Christmas! Family legacy is a two edged sword. I am fortunate to have inherited the legacy from my Father Dr Subhash Junagade, who was the first practicing trained pathologist in Nashik district. he is a master in histopathology and in his time was a pioneer in developing many firsts in pathology serivce in Nashik. he started his practice in 1975. I wanted a clinical field after my MBBS and hence pursued MD medicine , but I eventually took up Hematology and oncology as my super speciality and my relationship with pathology was restored! I profoundly benefited from the Pathology lab started by my father and more than that the good will he has is even today helping me in my practice. Not a single day goes without some patient remembering my dad and i also like to share the same with him in the evening over a cup of coffee. The other side to this is that patients come with lot of expectations and it is sometimes difficult to explain that some of the diseases I treat now like blood cancer (leukemia), aplastic anaemia, rare blood cancers are sometimes not curable. But I feel the loved and blessed when someone remembers my dad. I am really blessed to have him besides me even today in our laboratory.
